Welcome to 8K Ultra HD with the latest HDMI®
Features described in HDMI 2.1 enable the Onkyo TX-RZ50 8K/60p passthrough to a compatible display. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ codecs also improve colour, brightness, and contrast frame-by-frame in addition to HDR10 and HLG. In addition, eARC on Main Out transfers multichannel audio from the TV to the AVR for decoding and amplification. HDCP 2.3 is supported by all HDMI terminals. This audio may use DTS:X or Dolby Atmos. QMS reduces screen blanking when changing HDMI inputs (Quick Media Switching). Remember that HDMI inputs 1-6, Main Out, and Sub/Zone 2 Out in Sub Mode output all support HDMI 2.1 features.
Experience lag-free gameplay
You can change virtual worlds with 3D sound and get a competitive advantage with brand-new HDMI features designed just for gamers. Due to the absence of lag, stutter, and frame-tearing, players can play more smoothly and efficiently thanks to VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), and QFT (Quick Frame Transport). Note: Features are supported on HDMI Inputs 1-6, Main Out, Sub/Zone 2 Out in Sub Mode Output.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
The Onkyo TX-RZ50 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X codecs trace sound origins as they are perceived in real life and transpose them around your audience to create an engaging entertainment experience. Use 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 configurations to enjoy 3D audio, or add a stereo amplifier to get 7.2.4 channels. Enjoy DTS® Neural:X and Dolby Surround® on your height-enabled system to relive classic movies. These tools analyze archive sounds for spatial signals and enhance mixes for immersive 3D playback.
Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer
With your Onkyo TX-RZ50, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer improves Dolby® formats for a more immersive experience. With the aid of a conventional speaker configuration, it produces simulated surround and height effects. unique improvements for crystal-clear sound Short signal pathways and well-finished grounds on the HDMI board reduce noise. As audio circuitry is segregated from the SoC board, interference is decreased. For thick, clear, and detailed sound, power supply line reinforcement and power amplifier ground refinement with copper bus bar eliminate circuit noise.
SMART AV Receiver multi-room entertainment
The SMART AV Receiver serves as the brain of your home entertainment system. Access streaming music from Amazon Music HD*, Pandora®, Spotify®, TIDAL, Deezer, and TuneIn by using Sonos, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2, and DTS Play-Fi®. Amazon Music HD is supported by DTS Play-Fi.
Works with Sonos
with a Connect or Port*. The AVR works with the Sonos environment by changing inputs and responding to volume commands from the Sonos app. Sonos Connect and Port are sold separately. You can link 1-3 Sonos units together. For compatible iPad, iPhone, and Android devices, the Sonos app is available for free download from the Google Play Store and App Store.
Chromecast built-in works with Hey Google
Stream music to the receiver using Chromecast built-in and manage playback with an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, Mac or Windows® PC, Chromebook, or Chromecast-compatible app. On this and other compatible devices, you can cue, play, and control audio using your voice.
Works with Alexa
You can give the Onkyo TX-RZ50 AVR commands by speaking into an Alexa device. To listen to music, radio stations, or podcasts, all you have to do is ask. It also enables the playing of music through various devices and spaces. Multi-room audio may require a firmware upgrade.
Connect speakers for powered multi-room sound
You can connect the Onkyo TX-RZ50, your 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 speaker system, and passive speakers in another room using different Zone 2 outputs. Zone 2 or 7.2.2/5.2.4 can be replayed at your leisure. When combined with MAIN, Zone 2 and Zone 3 DACs allow D/A audio playback in three rooms (including HDMI, SPDIF, and NET). You can play different songs in different rooms at different times using the Onkyo Controller to manage your entertainment. Please take note that Zone 3 only supports analog/NET. Audio is supported via Zone 2 HDMI inputs 1-3. HDMI and SPDIF only support PCM.
5 GHz/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi® supports 802.11ac standard
Multiple processing tasks are handled simultaneously by a single 1.8 GHz quad-core SoC. It enhances network features and supports the 802.11ac (2×2 MIMO) standard for dependable multi-room audio streaming. Be aware that some countries or regions have regulations that restrict how Wi-Fi channels are used and how strong wireless transmissions can be.
Bidirectional Bluetooth® wireless technology
Bluetooth wireless technology is used by your Onkyo TX-RZ50 to transmit and receive audio. Use the SBC, aptX, or aptX HD codecs on your laptop, digital audio player, or mobile device to send what is playing in the primary zone* to a set of wireless headphones. Alexa features and built-in Chromecast audio are not supported.
Convenient Zone 2 and Zone B pre-/line-out
Zone 2 permits the attachment of active speakers or a hi-fi system, and it can sync D/A audio in MAIN and Zone 2 or play a different source in each. RCA pre-/line-out offers two settings. A headphone dock that is connected to Zone B plays MAIN audio through suitable wireless headphones. Note: Inputs 1-3 in Zone 2 mode can support HDMI audio. HDMI and SPDIF only support PCM. Only line-level, encoded or PCM signals (all inputs) are supported in Zone B mode in both MAIN and Zone B.
Dirac Live® Room Correction
Onkyo TX-RZ50 Dirac Live evaluates your audio equipment and listening environment by analysing acoustic data gathered with a setup mic. It modifies the timing and amplitude aspects of sound coloration over the listening space, not just in one location, by using a mixed-phase correction filter. Correction is done automatically through the use of a proprietary app for a smartphone or tablet*. Dirac Live enhances the staging, localization, clarity, vocal intelligibility, and bass response. The mobile device and AVR must be connected to the same local network.
Flexibility for customized setups
You may automatically turn on external power amplifiers and motorised projector screens by connecting them to the AVR’s 12 V trigger output. Media players linked through HDMI can also be controlled using CEC. An IR repeater input allows the AVR to be concealed away from the screen in custom theatres. Utilizing Ethernet and RS-232 connectors, the AVR is connected to your automation system. The Ethernet port enables PC setup and web browser control.
